CASE Transcaucasus – Georgia

The Center for Social and Economic Research, also known as the CASE Foundation is a Warsaw based NGO. It was founded in 1991 by a group of renowned Polish economists.
CASE is a modern, private research institution which focuses on socio-economic issues whose main goal is to develop knowledge about the economy by carrying out and facilitating economic research, as well as by conducting education and publishing activities and carrying out advisory activities for various post-Communist governments.
Since its inception CASE has actively been engaged in research, technical assistance, and training activities, supporting the economic transition to democracy and market economy in a number of countries of Eastern Europe and NIS.

Areas of activity:

  • Economic research in cooperation with scholars and institutions from Poland and other countries.
  • Publishing activity dedicated to the dissemination of research results and popularization of some of the most important contributions to economic theory.
  • Educational activity in the form of seminars, courses, and conferences.

In its activities CASE increasingly relies on local researchers and experts. In a number of countries daughter research organizations were created whose constitute public policy institutes having NGO (foundation).
By the decision of the Founders, Board of the CASE Foundation of Warsaw, by the decree of the Ministry of Justice, foundation CASE Transcaucasus was established and registered in February 18, 2000.

Fields of involvement of CASE Transcaucasus:

  • Consolidation of macroeconomic stability through fiscal reform
  • Development of medium-term macroeconomic and fiscal forecasting models
  • Social policy reform
  • Promotion of foreign investment
  • Continuation of the annual enterprise survey to monitor results of privatization and restructuring policies
  • Analysis to determin the investment climate
  • Strenghtening Banking sector and financial market
